MaxEdit Licensing

Maximo Renaming Tool Licensing Information

You can purchase a license directly, during, or after the free 30-day trial of MaxEdit. A MaxEdit license is tied to your Maximo’s database connection string. For each license entitlement that you purchase, you can use MaxEdit on a maximum of three (3) databases. In most cases, that would be your Development, Testing and Production environment. If you require more connections, you will have to purchase another entitlement, which will get you another set of three (3) connections.

Before you begin (please read this first)

Since MaxEdit is built right into Maximo itself, this means that, unfortunately, you are limited by the Maximo installation procedure which does not allow to uninstall the tool once you’ve installed it. Therefore, if you are trying out this software, be sure to back up your entire SMP folder and the Maximo database so you can restore both these after your trial.

Creating a license

Each entitlement you purchase can generate up to three (3) licenses. Each of those licenses is tied to a specific Maximo database connection string. Once a license is tied to a Maximo database connection string, you are not allowed to change it. To create a license, you can either use the installation package as described first, or the License Manager website. The installation package method is recommended, but can only be used if you can use the Internet from your target Maximo environment. If that’s not possible, use the License Manager website as described below.

Creating a license with the installation package

  1. If you not already done so before, download the installation package with the following link: MaxEdit-7601.zip. This file is approximately 30 MB in size. Please download this same file for Maximo 7.1.x, Maximo 7.5.x or Maximo 7.6.x.
